Bibliography France:

The first analyses and evaluations were carried out by sociologists: Morin/Lefoirt/Castoriadis (1968), Touraine (1969), Lacroix (1981), and Bourdieu (1984).

Historical accounts focus on May 1968 in an international context, such as Dreyfus-Armand/Gervereau (1988); the depiction of the cognitive constitution, formation, mobilization, and demobilization of the 1968 movement by Gilcher-Holtey (1994/2001); the position of the protest movement within the context of political reforms and the processes of modernization of the 1960s by Dreyfus-Armand/Frank, Levy, Zancarini (2000); and the concept of autogestion by Georgi (2003).

Regarding the longtime effects and the representation of May 1968 in public memory, see Boltanski/Chiapello (2003) and Ross (2002).
